Dato’ Zainal Akmal
Dato Zainal has more than 31 years experience in the financial sector. A graduate of University of Malaya, he has served HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad in various capacities including audit work which took him to several neighbouring countries. He was the Head of Corporate Banking for Regional North, based in Penang, and later Regional Central in Kuala Lumpur. He was the business driver for the Southern Region where he held the position of Director, Regional South based in Johor Baru, and was later appointed Director of Strategic Business Development at the bank’s HQ. Dato Zainal was also one of the key pioneers in the setting up of HSBC’s Islamic Banking business in Malaysia where he held the position of Head of Sales & Distribution .
Dato Zainal advises clients in the financial services industry, specializes in Senior Staff resourcing, Staff development, financial skills training, sales and service training and delivery, and executive performance evaluations.
Subramaniam Karuppiah has been in the banking services sector for the past 37 years, having joined and served HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad in various roles/departments, including Retail, Corporate and Human Resources. He has held senior level responsibilities, including Head of Product Development & Management, Head of Sales & Distribution , Head of Operations and Head of HR Service Delivery. During these tenures, he was in the unique position to have seen how a highly successful international organisation had to re-invent itself on a continuous basis to stay ahead of competition and moving into a leading position.
He was one of the key pioneers in the setting up of the HSBC Bank’s Islamic subsidiary in Malaysia, HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad, and thereafter was appointed Head of Operations.
He was responsible for HR Transformation projects to improve various processes and re-engineering of HR operations aimed to increase efficiency and productivity towards achieving world class service levels. He has also had responsibilities for executive resourcing and development.
He provides clients with specialist advice on aspects of recruitment, staff assessment and performance development, as well as in staff training and skills coaching.
In his career to date, Lawrance has been intimately involved in the implementation of various process improvement methodologies in diverse industries. He is a qualified ISO Lead Auditor as well as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
These insights have enabled him to implement process improvement strategies in industries ranging from manufacturing, construction and oil & gas to banks, insurance providers, call center and pharmaceuticals. Lawrance firmly believes that there are no cookie cutter solutions. Each organisation is unique with regards to its field of business as well as its workforce’s ability to implement a new strategy. Thus, any process improvement initiative has to be tailor made to the specific organization’s current stage of development and business challenges.
Vanitha, is dedicated to evangelizing the life-long learning approach. She has presented papers on several titles and continues to work with lifelong learning focus.
Vanitha, is a former VP Sales and Service Management of an International Service Oriented Organisation. She is a Certified Competency Based Trainer, Developer & Assessor (CBTE) from TAFE. She is also a Certified Instructor from the American Institute of Writing.
She is a leading expert on achieving corporate excellence and performance in the face of extreme business and market pressures. Her 20 years of working experience makes her extraordinarily successful as the turnaround leader and change agent. A truly unique and compelling knowledge and consulting experience on management, marketing, strategy, research, and how to reach customers with quality service and radical innovation.
Vanitha’s strength lies in her keen sense of observation, flexibility and spontaneity as she optimizes performance in four major areas: managerial and leadership, team effectiveness, sales and service, and written and oral communication skills. She is also a multi-tasker who thrives on tackling multiple challenges at the same time. As a trainer, Vanitha considers herself to be privileged to have contributed to the service industry by conducting more than 1,000 public seminars, and in-house courses in Malaysia, Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Jakarta.
Vanitha, also has a gift for building a customer-driven focus on an internal culture of trust, dignity, respect and inclusiveness. During her tenure she has created and driven a Sales & Service Culture for two major foreign Banks and conducted coaching, counseling and post merger activities.
